I've not really known what to do with myself since I got back from the new years trip at the start of last week. I've become detached, Slightly directionless with long empty days.
This is the first time I've been idle since I lost the job up until now there was always something on, Christmas, delivery driving, exploring, etc, the absence of anything to do for the last week or so has come as a bit of a shock to the system.
The last of the driving jobs was last week and it's not likely there will be any more until the workload at Jane's Picks up again and there's nothing big on the horizon. Its a shame as the money would have been useful.
I find it hard to do nothing, I've been spending a lot of time reading but the lack of real activity is disturbing my sleep patterns.
I need activity, If i stay in one place too long I start to get bored, depressed even, My mind has a tenancy to wander. Just recently things don't seem to be progressing. I've come home to Sussex to find the same life I had when I left to go away to UNI. I'm worried that staying here is doing me no good.
I have things I could do, If I just had some cash coming in, yet there are no jobs to be had. each day I trawl the job sites and there are never any out there. I went to the job center to sign yesterday and I could hardly find anything on their system that wasn't for a carer or a nurse.
Still if I'm careful with the cash I've got I should be able to get another roadtrip in by the end of the month. That would be good there's so much out there to be seen, but its hard to stay positive about it when it seems so distant.
The new years trip was great, We saw in the new Years from the Dorman Long coal bunker, watching the gowning fires of steel industry below us. I saw new things, evaded alarms, security men and policemen, I got a nice Cast Iron sign with the British Steel Logo on it and acquired the long promised nurses uniforms from west park! after running round the tunnels for hours in the dark!
I think I'll leave it there for now, I dare say I'll write more again soon |
